doctored photo? freedom? | information

on april 9th 2003, the front page of the london evening standard contained a blurry image supposedly showing a throng of iraqis in baghdad celebrating the toppling of saddam hussein. what we are really looking at is an incredibly ham-fisted attempt at photo manipulation. it looks fake to me, the problem is, should they alter news photo? i thought they are supposed to show us the truth, not the altered truth.

they made me do it | art

they made me do it, is a collective of artists emerging from the uk graffiti scene. the name was based on the cult film, donnie darko, directed by richard kelly. the project involved the whole collective in one place over one evening, with each artist producing a canvas in 6 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds which was inspired by the film. their first project title is suprisingly, also based around the movie donnie darko.
